The Family Ling Bling

Kudos to neighbor Jeff for taking some impromptu family pics of us in the front yard. Jeff takes great pictures and even though my hair was a mess and I had not one bit of makeup on they turned out pretty good! I guess our picture of the day will be one that is not mine but of neighbor Jeff's photographic eye!!!

Bubble, Bubble Toil & Trouble

Miss Katie has finally hit another milestone......she can now blow a bubble with bubblegum. It is hard to find her without a big wad of gum in her mouth these days. She is now trying to master the ol' bubble in a bubble trick. She and Chris had quite a training session on that subject on Sunday! We have also had the "chew gum with manners" talk.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! It is pouring down rain here in Dallas at 8:30am! Chris' dream of playing golf today are getting washed down the gutter with the rain. I guess he will have to settle with watching the US Open all day from his chair getting waited on hand and foot by me and Katie! I hope all dads have a great day!

Ok....I do have other pictures for picture of the day but Katie is so into bugs right now that she wanted me to post this picture. It is some kind of Praying Mantis that got a tasty fly for his dinner. My daisies are obviously home to a bunch of different bugs!

I thought it would be fun to do a picture of the day on the blog so here is the first picture of the day. I took this yesterday afternoon while Katie was letting her butterflies go. Chris pointed it out! It was really cool seeing the spider catch the fly!

Float Like A Butterfly

The time had come today for Katie to set her butterflies free. She has seen them come to her as small caterpillars....eat lots and lots of food and become not so small caterpillars.......hang upside down as chrysalides......and then emerge as a beautiful painted lady butterfly. This was such a great experience for Katie. She made a great butterfly journal that she wrote about what she was seeing and drew lots of great pictures. She was so excited when they came out as butterflies....she screamed that it was a miracle!

For The Love of Daisies

Daisies are my favorite flower in the whole wide world! I would take a dozen daisies over a dozen roses anyday. A couple of years ago Chris had the yard guy put a couple of small daisy plants in the front flower bed. Well, they have gotten huge over the last two years. They are even bigger than some of our shrubs that have been here for 7 years. This morning I went outside to a beautiful sight of lots of daisies! I was so excited because last year we had only two blooms! Not this year! I just had to go out and take some pictures of my beauties. Note that one of them had a friendly little spider attached!

San Antonio Madness (the remix)!!!!

So...after a good nights sleep (no soring from Chris or kicking from Katie) I am refreshed and can give more details of our trip. We headed out at 5:00am for SA on Wednesday morning. After a short 5 hour drive we were at Sea World. We had a blast. The weather was great and the park really didn't seem to be that crowded. Chris got to ride his favorite roller coaster - The Great White- and only had to wait 5 minutes. The shows were great and we all enjoyed riding some of the rides. Chris's mom and dad (Grammie and Grampy) his sister Carrie and her daughter Kaley, his other sister D'Nell and her two kids Jack and Ashlyn were there too! It was a mini Lingafelter reunion. The pictures of the family riding down on the splash boat are so classic. I just had to zoom in on just their faces! The next day Chris had lots of work appointments so Katie and I just hung out and had a grand time doing so. Later that evening we went to Carrie's house for some super yummy steaks and chicken. Katie caught a Katydid and was so excited. For those of you who didn't know her current passion is Hannah Montanna and bugs! She is going to be a buggyologist (her word). After photographing the bug she really wanted to keep it but I said no. Then she asked if we could tag it like they do the animals in Africa!! I just love her. The next day we went to the riverwalk and saw a movie about bugs at the newly renovated Aztec theater! It was so neat inside. They really put alot of work into it. Yesterday we went to the Folk Life Festival and saw so much stuff. The weather was hot and sticky but we managed! We were finally on the road home at 4:30pm! Whew....it was a whirlwind trip but loads of fun! Enjoy the slideshow pictures. It is best to scroll down and click on view all images so that they are bigger!

Bug Huntin'

YEAH! Chris is feeling so much better today! The pneumonia has really had him down for quite a while now. We are so glad to have the old Chris back. I knew he was feeling better when he immediately began aggravating us as soon as he got up this morning. On a super cool note....I got an awesome new digital camera today! I couldn't wait to take pictures so I tagged along on Katie and Chris' bug hunt this evening. We went over to Ya Ya's house and looked by the lake and by the pond too! Katie is really into bugs now and is always talking about them and wanting to inspect every one she sees. Enjoy the new camera pictures of the some of the bug hunt!!

Summer Fun!

Hot pavement burns the feet,
Cool green grass what a treat.

Sand stuck between the toes,

Kids running out to play,

Starting over is so hard to do!

Man oh man.....starting over is so hard. I am sad to say that my old blog blew up and half of it is somewhere floating around in cyberspace. So....I am starting over with this one. Same title but just a little bit different in the web address....http://thelingblings2.blogspot.com. My good frien Jeni tried to help me fix the old one but it didn't work. Maybe I could use this as a way to do more and better blogging for the summer months. I have no substituting or PTA newsletter excuses for not blogging this summer. Now, I just need to better at taking more pictures. I usually always have my camera but my Rebel has been acting up and everything is fuzzy which is so sad....I just loved taking pictures with that camera. Anyway...enjoy this small collection of random pictures. I just couldn't have a blog with no pictures!
